OneCo builds Ellevio's new communication network in large parts of central Sweden
On behalf of Telia Cygate, OneCo is building and installing Ellevio's new communication network - EDCN, during the period 2025-2028.
The expansion of Ellevios communication network covers several geographical areas: Dalarna, Hälsingland, Värmland, Skaraborg, Halland and Bohuslän. It aims to improve both operational reliability and the possibilities for digital control in the electricity networks.
The communication network is central to the long-term energy transition, where electricity grids need to become more dynamic, connected and adaptable. By collecting and analysing data in real time, electricity grids can be managed more efficiently and evolve with the energy transition.
The project covers more than 400 installations in Ellevio's distribution centres. It ranges from design and preparation of construction documents to installation, commissioning, testing and service migration.
- "We are proud to be part of building a communication solution that is crucial for Sweden's energy transition. By delivering a future-proof communication network, we contribute to a more efficient energy system and sustainable society," says Patrik Johansson, CEO of OneCo.
- A modern electricity network with increased electricity consumption, higher capacity, as well as fewer and shorter power outages requires that we continue to make major investments in modern digital technology. We also have good experiences from previous collaborations with OneCo and look forward to the extended cooperation," says Lars Niia, Senior Category Manager at Ellevio.
- Our experience and expertise in communication solutions ensures that Ellevio will have a stable and reliable communication network that meets current and future needs for efficient electricity distribution. We are pleased to cooperate with OneCo, whose expertise in the field complements us well," says Mattias Svanberg, Regional Director, Telia Cygate.
The project is characterised by high quality and technically advanced solutions that work safely in practice.
The mission will start in autumn 2025 and is expected to last approximately two to three years.
